During a training you do not have to put on each headset to start the next lesson or end one that runs too long. From the panel you send a command to a headset: Start lesson, Finish and save score or Discard and exit. You can do it on one headset or on several at once.
Who can use it
Available to organization Admins only: the device list and device details open only for the Admin role. The Device Admin permission on its own does not open these pages. Remote control must be included in your subscription plan.
Before you start: the headset must be online
Remote control works only while the headset has the app open and is connected to the internet. The panel shows it with the status:
- Online — the headset reports in. You can send commands.
- Offline — the app is closed, the headset is off or has no internet. The buttons are greyed out.
- Not reporting — the VR app on this headset is too old to report its status. Update it on the headset.
When a headset has gone to sleep, the panel shows "The headset is asleep — put it on to control it."
Control one headset
- 1Open Devices → Device list and click the headset's name.
- 2Below the card with the name, number and colour you see the Remote control section: the application, the status, what the headset is doing now (in the menu or in a lesson, and for how long), the lesson and score, the trainee, the battery level and the network.
Start a lesson
- 1Click Start lesson.
- 2Choose the Course and then the Lesson. The list shows the courses available in the app on this headset.
- 3Click Start. The headset opens the lesson.
The lesson runs for the trainee selected on the headset. To change who trains, click Change next to the trainee before you start the lesson. You can change the trainee only when the headset is online and not in a lesson.
Finish a lesson and keep the score
- 1Click Finish and save score. The button is active only while the headset is in a lesson.
- 2The window shows the score that will be saved. Click Finish and save score to confirm.
The lesson is saved with the current score and the headset returns to the menu.
Stop a lesson without saving
- 1Click Discard and exit.
- 2Confirm in the window.
The headset returns to the menu and this attempt is not recorded — the trainee's progress is lost. Use it when someone started the wrong lesson or has to stop.
Check that the command arrived
Under the buttons, Recent commands lists what was sent and what happened:
- Sent → Delivered → Completed — the headset carried out the command.
- Rejected — the headset refused it; the reason is shown next to it, for example "no lesson in progress" or "course not downloaded to the headset".
- Failed, Expired or No confirmation — the command did not go through. Check that the headset is still online and try again.
Control many headsets at once
- 1Open Devices → Device list.
- 2Set Status to Online to see only headsets you can control. The Headsets online tile tells you how many there are.
- 3Tick the headsets in the first column. Buttons appear above the table, each with the number of headsets it will reach, for example Start lesson (3).
- 4Choose the command and confirm it.
A command goes only to the headsets where it makes sense. Finish and save score reaches only headsets in a lesson; the window says how many of the selected headsets it will reach. Start lesson works for several headsets only when they all run the same app.
FAQ
The buttons are grey. Why?
The headset is offline, asleep, or its app does not report its status. Hover over a button to see the reason. Put the headset on or open the app, and wait until the status changes to Online.
I finished a lesson remotely. Where is the result?
In the completions, like any other lesson — with the score the headset had when you finished it. A lesson stopped with Discard and exit is not saved.
Can I start a lesson on headsets with different apps at once?
No. Select headsets that run the same app, or start the lesson on each headset separately.
Does remote control work without internet on the headset?
No. The headset receives commands only while it is online.
