Before an employee puts on the headset, it must be paired with your organization. Below are two methods — over a USB-C cable and with a code — plus what to do when something does not work.
What you need
An account with the administrator or device-manager role, a Meta Quest charged to at least 30%, and access to the Wi-Fi network your Skillsive panel runs on.
Before you start
Pairing links a physical headset to your organization, so completions and certificates reach the right people. A headset can belong to only one organization at a time — if the hardware came from another customer, unregister it there first.
Method 1 — USB-C cable
The fastest route when the headset is at hand and you have a USB-C cable. The panel detects the hardware automatically.
- 1In the panel go to Devices and click Add headset.
- 2Connect the headset to the computer with a USB-C cable. Put it on once — an "Allow USB debugging" prompt appears. Choose Always allow.
- 3Return to the panel. The headset shows up in the list of detected devices within a few seconds.
- 4Give it a clear name, for example "Warehouse — headset 3", and assign a location.
- 5Click Pair. Done — the status changes to Active.
Headset not on the list?
Check that the cable transfers data (not just charges) and that you confirmed USB-debugging consent in the headset. Unplug and reconnect — the prompt only appears while the headset is worn.
Method 2 — pairing code
Use this method when the headset is not next to the computer or you are pairing several units remotely. The Skillsive app must already be installed on the headset.
- 1Put on the headset and open the Skillsive app. On the start screen choose Connect to organization.
- 2Note the 6-digit code shown in the headset. The code is valid for 10 minutes.
- 3In the panel click Add headset → I have a code and enter it.
- 4Confirm the name and location, then click Pair.

A short clip shows both methods on real hardware — from connecting to launching the first training.

Supported models
Skillsive works with Meta Quest headsets. Below are the app versions required for each model.
| Model | Minimum app version | Kiosk mode |
|---|---|---|
| Meta Quest 2 | 2.4.0 | Yes |
| Meta Quest 3 | 2.4.0 | Yes |
| Meta Quest 3S | 2.6.1 | Yes |
| Meta Quest Pro | 2.5.0 | Limited |
Paired — what next?
The headset is ready. Assign it a training under Trainee groups, and the employee sees it right after putting the hardware on.
When something does not work
Usually one of three fixes helps: charge the headset above 30%, make sure it is on the same Wi-Fi network as the panel, and update the app to the latest version. If the status is stuck on "Pairing", unplug the headset for a minute and try again.
Status "Pairing error"
This means the headset is already assigned to another organization. Unregister it there (Devices → select the headset → Remove) or contact support — we will help move the hardware.
