The Download all button is grey, Download does nothing, or the courses will not come down to the headset? The headset is on Wi-Fi and you can log in, yet the course files never arrive? Most often the company network is blocking the Skillsive file server. Unblocking a few domains is enough.
For the IT department — in short
Allow outbound HTTPS (port 443) to all domains in the list below: api.skillsive.com, files.skillsive.com and skillsiveprodstorage.blob.core.windows.net. Allow them by domain name, not by IP address.
Check in three steps
- 1Test on a phone hotspot. Turn on the hotspot on your phone, connect the headset to it, start EHS Academy and try the download again. If it works, the cause is the company network, not the headset, the account or the courses.
- 2Ask the IT department to unblock the domains in the list below. This applies to every network the headsets use: guest Wi-Fi, a separate headset network, the proxy server and the DNS filter.
- 3Update EHS Academy in the Meta Store. Newer app versions download course packages through
files.skillsive.com, older ones (up to 1.10.5) straight from the Azure file storage. Whatever the version, unblock all the domains in the list.
After the changes, restart EHS Academy and click Download all.
Domains to unblock (for the IT department)
All connections to Skillsive are outbound, over HTTPS on port 443. No other ports are needed.
| Domain | Port | What for |
|---|---|---|
api.skillsive.com | 443 | Headset login, the list of courses and trainings, sending results. |
files.skillsive.com | 443 | Course packages in newer app versions. |
skillsiveprodstorage.blob.core.windows.net | 443 | Azure file storage: dubbing (voice-over), images, video and media packages in all app versions, plus course packages in versions up to 1.10.5. Always keep it unblocked. |
skillsive.com | 443 | The login and pairing page that the headset opens (link to the panel). |
www.google.com | 443 | The app uses it to check that the headset has internet. If it is blocked, the app may report no internet. |
api.wit.ai | 443 | Meta Wit.ai speech recognition. Only lessons with voice commands, such as BLS-AED resuscitation. |
| Meta services | per Meta | Meta Store, app updates and the headset itself. Meta publishes the domains and ports. |
Computers that open the Skillsive panel also need www.skillsive.com.
The skillsive.com domains sit behind Cloudflare, so their IP addresses are not fixed. Add them to the allow list in the firewall, the proxy server and the DNS filter. From a computer on the same network you can check whether https://files.skillsive.com opens in a browser. A timeout or a firewall block page means the traffic is blocked. The content of the response does not matter.
Still not working?
Write to support and include:
- the headset model and the EHS Academy version,
- the organization name,
- the result of the phone hotspot test (works or not),
- whether the domains from the list are already unblocked on your network.
FAQ
Do I need to open ports other than 443?
No. In production, outbound HTTPS on port 443 is enough.
Can I allow IP addresses instead of domain names?
Allow by domain name. The skillsive.com domains sit behind Cloudflare and their IP addresses are not fixed.
Does the headset still need internet after the courses are downloaded?
Downloaded courses can run offline for up to 30 days (up to 90 days on the Professional plan), and results sync when the headset is back online. For the first download and for content updates, the headset still needs access to the domains in the list.
