During code login, you can select an existing device or create a new one. The form is short, but consistent naming matters when you have more than one headset.
Why this matters
Device fields help identify headsets in the Skillsive panel and in EHS Academy. They do not describe the trainee or the person currently using the headset.
Device model
The model is the headset type, for example Meta Quest. During code login, Skillsive may recognize the model from the EHS Academy session and lock the field so the panel device matches the actual hardware.
If the model is locked, leave it as it is.
Country
Country helps keep devices organized, especially when a company works across several locations. Select the country where the headset will usually be used.
Name
The name should tell a person where the headset is or what it is used for. Good examples:
Warehouse - headset 1Safety trainings - Quest 3Berlin - VR room
You can leave the name empty. Skillsive will generate one automatically, but a manual name is much easier to work with when you have several devices.
Color
Color is a quick visual marker. Ideally, put a physical sticker or label on the headset in the same color you choose in the panel.
Example: a headset with a green sticker has the green color in the panel.
Number
Number is the second part of the marking. It works well together with color, for example green 1, green 2, blue 1.
Use numbers when you have several similar headsets in one location. The number is not the manufacturer's serial number.
Serial number
The serial number, when visible in the panel, identifies the hardware technically. Do not invent it manually and do not use it as the human-readable name, because it is hard to recognize quickly.
Active in subscription
This field tells you whether the device uses a seat in the current subscription. If the subscription device limit is full, you may need to unassign another device or extend the subscription before using a new headset.
Generation method
Browser Auth means the device was created during EHS Academy code login. This is normal for new headsets added through Sign In By Code.
Good practice
For each headset, use the same name, color, and number in the panel and on the physical label. Then the trainer can immediately recognize which device they are holding.
