When you pair a new headset, you create a device record for it. The form is short, but consistent names, colours and numbers save a lot of time once you have more than one headset in the training room.
Who fills this in
The person who pairs the headset — an organization Admin with the Device Admin permission. The fields describe the headset, not the trainee using it.
The fields when you create a device
You see the form after Create new device during pairing.
Device model
The type of headset, for example Meta Quest 3. During pairing Skillsive takes the model from the headset and locks the field, so the record matches the hardware. Leave it as it is.
Country
Where the headset is usually used. It helps to keep headsets apart when your company trains in several countries. Required.
Name
Tells a person where the headset is or what it is for. Required. Good examples:

Color
A quick visual marker. Put a sticker of the same colour on the headset. The name, colour and number are also shown in the app after sign-in, so the trainer can check which headset they are holding.
Number
The second part of the marking, for example green 1, green 2, blue 1. Required. This is your own number, not the manufacturer's serial number.
What you see in the device details and the list
Click a headset's name in the device list to open its details.
- Serial number — under the model at the top. It identifies the hardware. Click the copy icon to copy it, for example for support.
- Active / Disabled — the badge next to the model shows whether the headset uses a seat in your subscription. In the list the same information is in the Active in subscription column.
- Generation method — in the list. Browser Auth means the device was created by code login, which is normal for every headset added through Sign in by code.
Change the name, number or colour
- 1Open the device details.
- 2Click Edit.
- 3Change Name, Number or Color and save.
The model, the serial number and the country cannot be changed here.
Good practice
Use the same name, colour and number in the panel and on the sticker on the headset. The trainer then recognizes the headset at a glance, and results in reports point to the right device.
FAQ
The form says I can leave the name empty, but it is required. Which is true?
In the current form the name is required. Enter a short name that tells where the headset is used.
Can two headsets have the same colour and number?
The panel does not stop you, but avoid it: the colour and number are how people tell headsets apart.
Where do I find the manufacturer's serial number?
In the device details, under the model name at the top, and in the Device column of the list.
