Some procedures require the trained person to sign their certificate, for example to confirm they took part in the training. Skillsive asks for the trainee's signature only when the certificate template has a place for it.

When the certificate waits for a signature
A certificate needs the trainee's signature when its template has a field bound to Recipient signature image. You add that field when placing fields on the template.
- With the field — after issuing, the certificate waits for the trainee's signature. It is digitally signed only after the trainee has signed.
- Without the field — the certificate is digitally signed as soon as its PDF is created: right after issuing one certificate, or after Download PDF pack in bulk issuing.
Collect the signature while issuing
If the chosen assignment uses a template with the signature field, the Issue certificate form shows Recipient signature.
- 1Hand the device to the trainee and ask them to draw their signature in the signature area.
- 2Check that the signature is readable.
- 3Click Issue certificate.
The signature is optional at this point. You can leave it empty and add it later.
Add the signature later from the registry
- 1Open the Certificate registry. Certificates waiting for a signature show Not signed by recipient.
- 2Open the Actions menu of the certificate and click Add trainee signature.
- 3Let the trainee draw their signature with a mouse, finger or stylus. Uploading an image is not possible — the trainee has to sign on the screen.
- 4Click Add recipient signature.
After saving, the signature is placed in the PDF and the certificate is digitally signed. The row then shows Signed by recipient.
FAQ
Can I change the signature after saving?
No. Once the trainee has signed, the certificate is digitally signed, and any change would invalidate that signature. If the signature is wrong, void the certificate and issue a new one.
Does the trainee need an account in Skillsive?
No. The administrator collects the signature in the panel — the trainee only signs on the screen.
Why is Add trainee signature missing?
The template has no trainee signature field, the trainee has already signed, or the certificate is voided.
