A certificate template stores the PDF file and tells Skillsive where to place participant data, certificate number, dates, signatures, and the verification QR code.

Template creation form with basic information, classification, and PDF upload sections.
Create the template
- 1Open Organization → Certificates.
- 2Go to the templates section.
- 3Click the button for adding a new template.
- 4Enter the name and optional description.
- 5Fill in classification: country, language, and optional regulation reference.
- 6Upload the PDF file.
- 7Save or continue to field configuration.
Which PDF to upload
Use a normal, unsigned PDF file. The file should not be corrupted or protected by a digital signature.
If the PDF already contains form fields, map them to Skillsive data. If the PDF is only a visual background, use the visual editor and add fields manually.
Signed PDFs may be rejected
If the file was already digitally signed or is corrupted, Skillsive will ask you to upload a valid clean PDF.
What active means
An active template can be used in a certificate assignment. A template alone is not enough to issue certificates. It must be connected with a registry type and the remaining settings in an assignment.
After saving
Next, go to:
- fields and QR code to place data on the PDF,
- certificate assignment to use the template for issuing.
