For teams with more people than headsets

Interactive 3D training in the browser

Not everyone gets a headset on training day. With 3D simulations a person opens the lesson on a laptop or a phone, and the result lands in the panel just like a headset session.

Who it's for

Twelve people, three headsets, one afternoon

Waiting in line for a headset eats up the session. With browser simulations, the people who are not in a headset sign in to the panel and run the lesson on a laptop or a phone at the same time, and the safety lead sees every result in one completion list.

  • Safety teams with few headsets

Run the session for the whole group when there are fewer headsets than people.

  • Distributed and field teams

People on other sites sign in to the panel and go through a lesson on a laptop or a phone; the result still reaches the panel.

  • Training providers

Participants with an account in your organization repeat a lesson in the browser after the headset session, with the result in the same records.

What it looks like in practice

3D simulations are VR training lessons prepared to run in a web browser. The player is built on Babylon.js and renders with WebGPU, falling back to WebGL2 where the browser does not support it, so a lesson runs on an ordinary office laptop as well as on a phone.

A simulation started from the panel is a training session like any other: the score and progress are saved as a completion and can lead to a certificate, exactly as when the lesson is done in a headset. Today this is a pilot. The first simulations already work, new ones arrive every month, and the whole catalogue is planned to run in the browser in 2027.

How it works

  1. Step 1: We switch it on for your organization

3D simulations are enabled per organization by the Skillsive team. Write to us and we turn them on for you.

  2. Step 2: Open 3D Simulations in the panel

Everyone signs in to the panel with their own account in your organization. The menu item lists the simulations available to it, with the course, the lesson, the approximate duration and the language.

  3. Step 3: Start in the browser

Pick the language and click Start simulation. On a computer you use the mouse and keyboard; on a phone you use touch or look around by moving the phone.

  4. Step 4: The result goes to the panel

When the simulation ends, the result is saved as a completion and counts towards certificates like a headset session.

What you get in the panel

  • Computer, phone, headset

A simulation runs on a laptop with mouse and keyboard, on a phone with touch and its motion sensors, and in a headset browser through WebXR.

  • No installation

The simulation opens from the panel in the browser. There is no app to install and nothing for IT to roll out to company laptops.

  • Modern 3D rendering

The player uses WebGPU where the browser supports it and switches to WebGL2 where it does not.

  • Results in completions

The score and progress land in the same completion list as headset sessions, with the same filters and exports.

  • Certificates, same as from a headset

A completion from the browser leads to a certificate under the same rules as a completion from a headset.

  • Lesson language

When a lesson exists in several languages, the trainee picks one on the lesson card before starting.

What it gives you

  • Train the people who did not get a headset that day
  • No software to install on company computers or phones
  • One completion list and one set of certificates for the browser and the headset
  • Teams on other sites go through a lesson on their own laptop or phone, signed in with their panel account
  • Each person starts a multi-language lesson in the language they pick
  • New simulations every month, with the full catalogue planned for 2027

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a VR headset?
No. A simulation runs in a browser on a computer or a phone. A headset is optional: in its browser the simulation opens through WebXR.
Which browser do I need?
A current browser that supports WebGPU or WebGL2. On a computer we recommend Chrome or Edge. If a simulation does not load, the player says so and suggests another browser.
Does a browser result count the same as a headset result?
Yes. It is saved as a completion and counts towards certificates under the same rules as a headset session.
Which training courses run in the browser?
This is a pilot: the first simulations already work and new ones arrive every month. The whole catalogue is planned to run in the browser in 2027. The VR training catalogue is on ehsvr.com.
How do we turn it on?
3D simulations are enabled per organization by the Skillsive team. Contact us and we switch them on; the 3D Simulations item then appears in the panel menu.
Do I need to install anything?
No. Each person signs in to the Skillsive panel with their own account in your organization and opens the simulations in the browser. Nothing is installed on the computer or the phone.
