Online courses are short courses with a final test for your team — the people who have accounts in the panel, not your trainees. With them, a new safety manager who has never worn a headset can get ready for VR in a few minutes, without a live session. Courses for trainees will come later.
Who can do this
Any member of the organization can take the courses. Admins can assign them to others and follow their progress. Online courses are available in all subscription plans, including the trial.
Which courses are there
Two courses are available to start with:
- 1VR Basics — what VR training is, which headsets to choose and how to prepare a safe training spot.
- 2Your First Headset in Skillsive — from roles in the panel, through pairing and downloading courses, to the first training session and the result in the panel.
Each course is a few short lessons and a final test. Open Online courses in the organization menu — the list groups courses into To do, Other courses and Completed. When no course is required for you, the section with the remaining courses is simply called Courses.
Who has to take which courses
A course can be required for a person in two ways:
- Through a role. Both courses are required automatically for everyone with the Device Admin role. You don't set anything up — the requirement appears together with the role. That person sees a card on the dashboard with the number of courses to do.
- Through an assignment. You can assign any course to any member, with an optional due date.
On a course card the person sees where the requirement comes from (Required — role … or Assigned to you) and, past the due date, the Overdue status.
Assign a course to a member
- 1Open Organization settings → Members.
- 2In the member's row, click the ⋮ button at the end of the row. On a computer, the button appears when you hover over the row.
- 3Click Assign online course.
- 4Pick the course and, if you like, set a due date.
- 5Confirm the assignment.
Follow your team's progress
On the Members page you will find the Online courses column. It shows how many required courses the person has completed and whether any is overdue. Click the cell to open a details window: the person's courses, where each requirement comes from (role or assignment), the due date, progress and test score.
In this window you can also remove a manual assignment.
Removing an assignment does not undo a role requirement or progress
You only remove the manual assignment and its due date. If the course is required through the Device Admin role, it stays required. Progress and completion are kept — nothing is deleted.
How a team member learns
- 1They open Online courses and click Start course.
- 2They go through the lessons one by one with Next. The final test unlocks after the last lesson.
- 3They take the test and click Check answers.
Progress is saved on the person's account in this organization. When they come back another day or from another browser, Continue opens the lesson where they stopped.
The final test
- You pass the test with at least 80% correct answers.
- You can retake the test with unlimited attempts.
- When a test is not passed, each wrongly answered question shows a Read again link to the right lesson. Correct answers are not revealed.
The certificate after completion
Once the test is passed, the course is completed and a certificate is issued automatically. It is a PDF in the style of Skillsive certificates: with a number in the SKO-… format, your organization's logo, the test score and a QR code that leads to the verification page.
- The certificate is available in 5 languages.
- The member downloads it with Download certificate (PDF) — on the test result or in the course list.
- An admin downloads it in the details window on the Members page and in the Certificates hub, on the Certificate registry list.
Verify with the QR code, not with a file
You check an online course certificate by scanning its QR code or opening the link on the certificate. Verification by uploading the PDF file does not work for these certificates.
After the subscription expires
When the organization's subscription expires, the courses lock and cannot be taken. Certificates of completed courses can still be downloaded.
FAQ
Can trainees take the courses?
Not yet. Online courses are for team members for now. Trainees will be added in a later step.
Why is a course still required after I removed the assignment?
Because it comes from the Device Admin role. Removing an assignment only affects manually assigned courses.
Do we have to start over if we log out mid-course?
No. Progress is saved on the account, so Continue returns to the last lesson.
