XREAL Air 2 Pro — specification and verdict
The Air 2 Pro is the plain version of the idea: 75 g, a 46-degree field of view, and electrochromic dimming so you can darken the lenses on a bright train. XREAL's own documentation lists no cameras and only an inertial sensor, which means the picture floats in front of you and turns when you turn.
There is nothing here to deploy to — no processor, no operating system, no store. The glasses take an image over USB-C from a phone, a laptop or a console, and that host device is where any software and any management lives.
A good portable screen and an honest one, as long as nobody calls it AR. For work it belongs in the same drawer as a portable monitor: useful at a bench or on a plane, irrelevant to guiding a task.

Who this device is for
The Air 2 Pro is the display-glasses model that made the category mainstream: 75 g, 46 degrees and three-level electrochromic dimming, connected over USB-C to a phone or laptop. It suits video and a portable screen, and it is the cheapest way into this class — it runs nothing on its own, and our courses do not run on it.
How it differs from its predecessor
Against the Air 2 Ultra it drops the cameras, 6DoF and hand tracking and gains dimming and a brighter picture in practice. Against the XREAL One, which replaced it, it has no anchoring chip — the screen follows your head unless the connected software pins it, which is the main reason to buy the newer model.
What is missing, and what the manufacturer does not publish
No camera, no 6DoF, no anchoring on-device, no application platform and no device management. XREAL never states a launch price either: its own store lists only a running sale price against a regular price, and outside coverage of the 2023 release disagrees with it. The image also follows your head by default, which is fine for film and tiring for work.

- What do the three dimming levels on the Air 2 Pro do?
- They darken the lenses electronically, from lightly tinted to nearly opaque, so you can trade seeing the room against seeing the image. It is the feature that makes these usable on a plane or in a bright office, and it is what separates the Pro from the standard Air 2.
- Is the Air 2 Pro still worth buying next to the XREAL One?
- Only on price. The One adds on-device anchoring so the screen stays put when you move your head, which is the single biggest quality-of-life difference in this category. If the glasses are for films on a plane, the Air 2 Pro still does that job.
