RayNeo Air 3s — specification and verdict
The Air 3s is RayNeo’s entry viewer: a 76-gram pair of binocular micro-OLED glasses that plugs into any USB-C DisplayPort host and shows a 201-inch virtual screen, with no app or pairing needed for basic use. At 650 nits to-eye it is the dimmest of the current Air line, which matters outdoors more than indoors, and it is the only one of the three with stepless brightness rather than fixed steps — RayNeo sells that as the point, for viewing in a dark room without a lowest step that is still too bright. There is no battery, no camera, no microphone and no head tracking; power comes from the host device. RayNeo also publishes a prescription range for this model, which it does not do for either Pro.
Nothing runs on it — a USB-C DisplayPort monitor with an on-glasses button menu and no compute of any kind. For shared or occasional workplace use the honest points in its favour are the price and the fit: nine temple adjustment positions, adjustable nose pads and 76 grams. Against it is the brightness: 650 nits to-eye is fine indoors and struggles where the Pro models do not. There is no fleet management, no SDK and no enterprise route, and every power and console adapter is a separate purchase.
The cheapest current way into a wearable screen, and RayNeo is unusually specific about the one thing it does better than its own Pro models: stepless brightness rather than fixed steps, which matters in a dark room where the lowest fixed step is still too bright. It is also the only one of the three for which RayNeo publishes a prescription range. Against that, RayNeo contradicts itself on the field of view, the virtual-screen distance and the number of colour modes across its own pages for this product, and the 201-inch figure carries the maker’s own footnote that it "is not a physical screen size".

Who this device is for
For somebody buying their first wearable screen, mostly for watching and playing on a phone, handheld or console. RayNeo’s own framing is "Your Essential 201-inch Portable Cinema for Movies & Games", with a privacy angle it repeats: the glasses block 99.6% of ambient light and Whisper Mode limits what people beside you hear. Fit gets real attention for the price — nine temple positions, adjustable nose pads, 76 grams.
How it differs from its predecessor
Against the Air 3s Pro it is the same hardware at half the brightness for thirty dollars less, with one thing the Pro does not have: stepless brightness rather than twenty fixed steps, which RayNeo sells as the point for dark rooms. Against the XREAL Air 2, the other budget viewer of this generation, the two are close on brightness and price, and RayNeo publishes a prescription range where XREAL does not. Against the Air 4 Pro it is two generations behind on the image pipeline and roughly a hundred dollars cheaper.
What is missing, and what the manufacturer does not publish
RayNeo contradicts itself three ways on this product’s own pages: the field of view is 46 degrees on the hero badge and 47 in the spec entry, the virtual screen is at 6 metres in one place and 4 metres in the FAQ, and the colour modes are 3 in one table and 4 in another. No axis is ever named for the field of view. Beyond that: no frame dimensions, no material, no IP rating, no downloadable manual, no SDK and no enterprise route. The prescription path is outsourced to a third party at the buyer’s cost with only a sample frame in the box, and every power and console adapter is sold separately.

- What does “stepless brightness” buy me?
- Control at the bottom of the range. RayNeo calls this the one and only viewer with stepless brightness and aims it at watching in a fully dark room, where a fixed lowest step is often still too bright. Both Pro models in the family instead give twenty discrete steps. It is a small thing that matters a lot if you watch in bed.
- Can I use it with a prescription?
- Yes, through a third party rather than RayNeo. A sample lens frame ships in the box and RayNeo’s optical partner supplies lenses for myopia between 0 and −10.00 D and astigmatism between 0 and −2.00 D, advising against anything stronger. This is the only model of the three for which RayNeo publishes those limits, so treat the Pro models as unknown rather than assuming the same range.
