VITURE Luma — specification and verdict

Luma is the entry point to VITURE’s current generation: 1200p per eye at 50 degrees on a 146-inch virtual screen, 77 grams, and a plain USB-C socket rather than the magnetic connector the pricier Luma models use — which means it still works with VITURE’s older adapters that the Luma Ultra explicitly does not. Two things distinguish it. The built-in myopia dial reaches −6.0 dioptres, the widest range VITURE publishes anywhere in the line, and it keeps the electrochromic film that darkens the lenses to near-blackout at a tap. VITURE itself concedes the cheaper Pro 2 has sharper optics; what you pay the extra hundred dollars for is the feature set.

A wearable screen with no route for an application: no OS, no SDK, no device management. Where it earns a second look over the rest of the family is fit and compatibility. VITURE says it has the largest eyebox in the line, wider even than the older VITURE Pro, which matters for shared use where different faces have to find the sweet spot. And because it uses a plain USB-C socket rather than the magnetic connector, it still works with VITURE’s existing USB-C and HDMI adapters, which the Luma Ultra does not.

The sensible middle of VITURE’s range if you want the feature set rather than the sharpest image — electrochromic tint, the widest diopter dial the company makes at −6.0 D, and the largest eyebox. VITURE is unusually candid that its cheaper Pro 2 has better optics, which is worth taking at face value. Two things are unresolved on VITURE’s own pages: the folded dimensions differ between the US page and the German and Japanese ones, where the figure given is the Luma Ultra’s, and the electrochromic film is described as a 0.5–40% range in English but as "0.5 or 40%" in Japanese, which are different claims about whether the tint is variable at all.

Who this device is for

VITURE positions it by fit and price rather than by task: "Luma features the largest eyebox in our lineup — even larger than the VITURE Pro. If you’ve had trouble finding the sweet spot on VITURE Pro or feel you’re right on the edge, Luma is highly recommended." The other half of the pitch is the feature set at the lower Luma price — electrochromic tint and the widest dioptre dial the company makes.

How it differs from its predecessor

Against the Luma Ultra it drops the cameras, the 6DoF and 500 nits, and gains 200 dollars, 6 grams less and a plain USB-C socket that keeps VITURE’s older adapters working. Against the Pro 2 the trade runs the other way than the price suggests: Pro 2 is cheaper, lighter, brighter and — by VITURE’s own admission — sharper, while Luma keeps the electrochromic film and reaches −6.0 D on the dial where Pro 2 stops at −5.0. Against the XREAL Air 2, the budget viewer of the previous generation, Luma is a clear step up on resolution and brightness at twice the price.

What is missing, and what the manufacturer does not publish

VITURE publishes no release date and no launch price for it — the release date in the page’s structured data is a template artifact that reads as today on every product it sells. The folded dimensions disagree between VITURE’s own US page and its German and Japanese ones, which give the Luma Ultra’s figure instead, so we have recorded none. The electrochromic film is a 0.5–40% range in English and "0.5 or 40%" in Japanese, which are different claims about whether the tint is variable, and VITURE never publishes a number of tint levels. "Peak Perceived Brightness" is never defined as panel or to-eye output. There is no microphone statement at all — not even a denial — and no frame material, no field-of-view axis and no regulatory marking beyond the SGS eye-care claim.

Why does the cheaper Pro 2 have better optics than this?
Because it is a newer optics generation, and VITURE says so itself when asked directly: Pro 2 is sharper, "even though Luma sits in our premium Luma family, Pro 2’s optics generation is newer". What Luma keeps in exchange is the feature set — the electrochromic film Pro 2 does not have, a −6.0 D dioptre dial against Pro 2’s −5.0, and 1200p per eye against 1080p.
Does it work with VITURE’s existing adapters?
Yes, and that is a real advantage over the pricier models. Luma uses a plain USB-C socket, so the older USB-C and HDMI adapters still work with it. Luma Ultra and Luma Pro use a magnetic pogo-pin connector instead, and VITURE marks both of those adapters "not supported" on those pages.
