RayNeo X2 Lite — specification and verdict

The X2 Lite pairs two full-colour microLED waveguide engines with Qualcomm's Snapdragon AR1 Gen 1 in a 60 g glasses frame, at 1500 nits to-eye brightness and a 30 degree diagonal field of view. That field of view is roughly one floating panel at arm's length: enough for a navigation arrow, a caption line or a translated sentence, nowhere near enough for a training scene a trainee can look around in. RayNeo never published a per-eye resolution for it, and never stated whether the tracking is positional. It is a notification and assistant device, not a display you can put a procedure on.

There is nothing to deploy. RayNeo's own store lists the Air 4 Pro, Air 3s, Air 2s and the X3 Pro at 1299 USD, and the X2 that the Lite was meant to undercut is marked sold out; the X2 Lite appears nowhere. The Q3 2024 window RayNeo gave at Snapdragon Summit passed two years ago with no launch, no price and no EU distribution. No developer SDK was ever opened for it, so the platform stays closed, and there is no MDM or kiosk story to evaluate.

Do not plan around it. Two years past its own Q3 2024 target with no store listing, this is a demo unit and should be treated as cancelled unless RayNeo says otherwise. If you want binocular AR from RayNeo today the shipping X3 Pro is the only entry, and neither device runs our VR courses.

Who this device is for

Of interest only to people tracking microLED waveguide progress and to teams working out what a 60 g, 30 degree assistant display can and cannot show. Anyone procuring hardware for VR safety training should skip it: it is see-through AR, and our courses are standalone VR applications.

What is missing, and what the manufacturer does not publish

RayNeo published a weight, a brightness figure, a field of view and a chipset, and almost nothing else: no per-eye resolution, no battery life, no storage or RAM, no operating-system name, no price, and no statement on whether the tracking is positional. VRcompare lists it as inside-out, which is the only reason 6DoF is recorded here. RayNeo also never issued a cancellation notice, so the announced status is our reading of a silent product line-up, not a vendor statement.

RayNeo X2 Lite — frequently asked questions

Can you buy the RayNeo X2 Lite in 2026?
No. RayNeo's own store sells the Air 4 Pro, Air 3s, Air 2s and the 1299 USD X3 Pro, and lists the X2 as sold out, but has no X2 Lite entry at any price. The Q3 2024 release RayNeo announced at Snapdragon Summit never happened and a launch price was never published.
Is the RayNeo X2 Lite's 30-degree field of view enough for VR training?
No. Thirty degrees of field of view on a see-through waveguide is about one panel of content, which suits a navigation arrow or a caption line rather than an environment. Our courses are standalone VR applications and do not run on it in any case, which is why we mark it as not running our courses.
How was the X2 Lite different from the RayNeo X2 it was based on?
The Lite was the lighter variant: 60 g on Qualcomm's Snapdragon AR1 Gen 1, where the X2 used the heavier AR2 Gen 1 arrangement. Both were quoted at 1500 nits and a 30 degree field of view, but only the X2 reached the store, and it is sold out there now.
