Iristick.G2 PRO — specification and verdict

The G2 PRO is a pair of certified safety glasses — EN 166 S and ANSI Z87 — with a small monocular display, a 16 MP camera with 6× optical zoom and a barcode scanner, weighing 78 g. It is tethered by cable to a phone and to a pocket battery you can hot-swap, which is what gets it through a whole shift.

The application does not live on the glasses: you ship a normal Android or iOS phone app built against the Iristick SDK, and the glasses act as a camera and a heads-up display. That makes them easy to add to an existing mobile application and impossible to treat as a standalone device.

The right tool for remote support, inspection and hands-free data capture where certified eye protection is mandatory. There is no spatial tracking and no immersive rendering here, so training content built for a headset cannot simply be moved onto it.

Who this device is for

The Iristick.G2 PRO is safety eyewear first and a display second: 78 g, EN 166 S and ANSI Z87 rated, tethered to a phone that does the computing. It suits environments where eye protection is mandatory and a technician still needs a barcode scanner and a remote expert — logistics, utilities, field service.

How it differs from its predecessor

Against the G3 it is the older, lighter model with a much lower-resolution display: 426x240 against 640x400, and no brightness figure. Against RealWear, the difference is the architecture — Iristick puts the computing in the phone in your pocket, which keeps the glasses light and makes the phone the thing you manage.

What is missing, and what the manufacturer does not publish

There is no on-board computing at all: without a paired phone the glasses do nothing, which is a deployment model as much as a specification. No 6DoF tracking, no device management of its own, and our applications do not run on it. Iristick publishes no release year for it.

Yes — the G2 PRO carries EN 166 S and ANSI Z87, which is exactly the point of the design: on a site where safety glasses are mandatory, this replaces them instead of being worn awkwardly with them. Check the marking against your own site requirement before deployment.
