RayNeo X2 — specification and verdict
The X2 puts two full-colour micro-LED waveguides in a 120 g glasses frame, driven by an on-board Snapdragon XR2 with 6 GB of RAM, so nothing is tethered to a phone or a PC. What the wearer actually gets is 640x480 per eye inside a 25-degree diagonal window at 1,000 nits: bright enough to read outdoors, but a panel that size holds a navigation arrow, a translated caption or a two-line instruction, not a diagram or a procedure sheet. There is no controller in the box and no hand tracking; input is the temple touch surface, voice, and the bundled RayNeo Ring. Our VR training courses do not run on it — they are immersive Android VR applications and the X2 has no stereo scene to place them in. As a device to look at while you work, rather than a device to train in, it reads short text and overlays a route.
RayNeo's own product page now lists the X2 at $499 and marks it Sold Out, and the store's own product data files it under discontinued products, so there is no supply channel to standardise a fleet on. It was sold in the United States only; there was never a Polish or German retail listing, which means no local warranty and no RMA path for a company here. There is no vendor MDM and no kiosk mode: the documented way to get your own software onto it is ADB, and on firmware 1.2.66 and later you first have to run `adb shell settings put global mercury_install_allowed 1` per device, by hand. Battery is 590 mAh and about an hour with the display in constant use, so any shift-long use means a charging rota rather than a hot-swap. Hygiene is whatever you do with a plastic spectacle frame; there is no swappable facial interface to replace between trainees.
Do not buy the X2 for training. It is discontinued, US-only, has no fleet management, and a 25-degree 640x480 display cannot carry instructional content. If you want assisted-reality glasses, look at a current shipping model with a European channel; if you want our courses, you need a standalone VR headset, not this.

Who this device is for
The X2 makes sense only for an R&D or innovation team that already owns one and wants to see what a full-colour binocular waveguide looks like in daylight. Anyone planning an actual deployment — a rollout with spare units, warranty and remote management — is looking at the wrong device, because RayNeo has stopped selling it and never sold it in the EU.
What is missing, and what the manufacturer does not publish
RayNeo publishes neither the panel resolution nor the field of view; the 640x480 per eye and 25 degrees diagonal here come from UploadVR and VRcompare, not from the maker, and so does the 120 g weight. The page's marketing copy claims up to 1,500 nits while its own specification table says 1,000 — we recorded 1,000. RayNeo also never published a discontinuation date, an end-of-support date or a firmware-update commitment, and the X2 FAQ is silent on all three, so how long the device keeps receiving system updates is unknown.
