Nimo Planet Nimo — specification and verdict
Nimo Planet sells the Nimo 1 Glasses together with the Nimo Core, a puck the size of an earphone case that carries the Snapdragon XR2 Gen 1, 8 GB of RAM and the whole of Nimo OS; the glasses themselves have no battery and no compute. The manufacturer's FAQ gives 1920x1080 per eye, a 46-degree field of view and 49 pixels per degree, which is enough to read a spreadsheet or a manual in a floating window. Tracking is 3DoF only, so windows follow your head and nothing can be anchored to a machine, a panel or a workpiece. For training that limits it to reading and watching: there is no positional tracking to place a task in the room, and no controller with which to perform one.
The Core is bought as a bundle with the Nimo 1 Glasses at 1299 USD, or on its own for use with Rokid Max or Xreal Air glasses. Nimo Planet sells direct and describes enterprise shipments and a developer programme; there is no distributor in Poland or Germany, so a fleet arrives as an import with no local warranty path. No MDM enrolment, kiosk mode or remote provisioning is published, which means every unit is configured by hand even though Nimo OS is AOSP-based. Battery is 150 minutes on a 1850 mAh cell in the Core, so a full training day needs charging breaks or a USB-C power bank in the pocket beside it. Hygiene is easy by comparison with a headset, since a glasses frame has no facial interface to swap.
Do not buy this for VR safety training: it is a personal display for desktop work, and our courses will not run on it. If someone in the organisation wants a portable multi-window workstation, the Nimo Core plus a pair of Xreal or Rokid glasses is a reasonable thing to trial. For training, buy a standalone 6DoF VR headset instead.

Who this device is for
This is for a mobile knowledge worker who wants several large windows in a train seat or a hotel room, and for developers curious about Nimo OS as an AOSP-based spatial desktop. It is not for an EHS trainer: 46 degrees of field of view and 3DoF tracking cannot show a procedure in place, and there is no controller to interact with one.
What is missing, and what the manufacturer does not publish
The two available sources disagree badly: VRcompare lists 1280x720 per eye, a 26-degree diagonal and 3 hours of battery, while Nimo Planet's own FAQ says 1920x1080, 46 degrees, 49 PPD and about 2.5 hours from 1850 mAh; we took the manufacturer's numbers. Nimo Planet publishes no weight for the glasses (the 120 g here is VRcompare's), no brightness in nits, no camera specification, no certifications and no actual release date. In August 2026 the product page still advertises a Q3 2024 ship window and takes reservations, and we found no independent hands-on review, so treat general availability as unproven.

- Do the Nimo 1 Glasses work without the Nimo Core puck?
- No. The glasses carry no battery and no compute at all — the Snapdragon XR2 Gen 1, the 8 GB of RAM and Nimo OS all live in the Core, and the glasses are a display connected to it. The Core can also be bought on its own to drive Rokid Max or Xreal Air glasses, which is the cheaper way in.
- Can Skillsive VR training courses run on Nimo OS?
- No. Nimo OS is AOSP-based and runs Android and web apps in floating windows, but tracking is 3DoF, so the system knows where you are looking and not where you are standing. Our courses need positional 6DoF tracking and tracked controllers, so they need a standalone VR headset instead.
- Has the 1299 USD Nimo pre-order actually shipped?
- Not verifiably. Nimo Planet says pre-production units went to a few early customers and that it ships to enterprises, but in August 2026 the site still shows a Q3 2024 ship window and a reservation button, and no independent review of a retail unit exists. Ask for a delivery date in writing before you pay.
