Rokid X-Craft — specification and verdict
The X-Craft is not a headset you put on a face but a headband you clip onto an existing safety helmet, with a binocular waveguide display in front of one eye area at 40 degrees and up to 1,600 nits so it stays readable in daylight. At 1280x720 per eye and 60 Hz it is enough for a work order, a checklist, a schematic callout or a live video call with a remote expert, and nothing more: a trainee cannot read dense text or a full procedure document on it. There is no positional tracking at all, so nothing on screen is anchored to the plant around the wearer. Input is voice through three noise-cancelling microphones plus a knob you can turn with industrial gloves, and there is a dedicated SOS button. The 10,000 mAh battery is rated for eight hours, which is the one specification that genuinely matches a shift.
This is bought as a certified safety device, not as IT hardware: the value is the ATEX Zone 1 and Zone 2 marking, IECEx, IP66 and MIL-STD-810G, which is what lets it through a gate where an ordinary Android tablet is not allowed. Rokid sells it in Europe through its own regional store and through industrial distributors including resellers in Poland and Germany, at an enterprise four-figure euro price per unit. Software is Yoda OS-XR behind Rokid's own SDK, so anything you deploy is either Rokid's remote-expert application or an integration a partner writes for you. We found no published vendor MDM or kiosk-mode offering, so fleet configuration should be assumed to be a manual per-device job until Rokid confirms otherwise. Hygiene is simpler than with a VR headset because the unit rides on the customer's own helmet rather than touching the face.
Buy it if you need augmented reality inside a Zone 1 hazardous area and the certification is the whole point; there is very little else with that marking. Do not buy it for training. Our courses are VR applications and none of them run on this device, and its stock situation is poor enough in 2026 that a procurement process should start by asking Rokid what is actually shippable.

Who this device is for
Plant, utility and rail engineering teams that need a remote expert to see what a technician sees inside an explosive atmosphere, and safety departments that cannot bring an uncertified device past the gate. It also suits integrators building a hands-free inspection workflow on Rokid's SDK. It suits nobody who wants immersive VR content.
What is missing, and what the manufacturer does not publish
The three sources disagree on the basics and Rokid does not settle it: the weight is listed as 810 g by a European distributor, 790 g by an aggregator and 600 g by a US industrial reseller, and the chipset is given as Amlogic A311D by one aggregator and Amlogic S905D3 by another, so we left the chipset off the record entirely. The connector is described as USB Type-C in one place and as a 7-pin waterproof magnetic USB 2.0 socket in another. Rokid publishes no dimensions, no charge time, no device-management or kiosk documentation, and its old rokid.com product page now returns 404 while rokid.ai does not resolve from our network, so nothing here could be upgraded to a first-party spec sheet.
Rokid X-Craft — frequently asked questions
- Is the Rokid X-Craft certified for ATEX Zone 1 or only Zone 2?
- Both. It is marked for ATEX Zone 1 and Zone 2 with an IECEx equivalent, and it was the first augmented reality device to reach Zone 1 rather than the easier Zone 2. On top of that it carries IP66 against dust and water and MIL-STD-810G for drops. That marking, not the display, is the reason the device exists and the reason it costs what it costs.
- Can Skillsive VR safety training run on the Rokid X-Craft's 40-degree display?
- No. Our courses are immersive VR applications that need positional 6DoF tracking and a full field of view, and the X-Craft has no positional tracking at all and a 40-degree diagonal waveguide at 1280x720 per eye. It also runs Yoda OS-XR behind Rokid's own SDK rather than accepting a standard build. Use a standalone VR headset for the training and keep the X-Craft for live remote support in the hazardous area.
- Can you still buy a Rokid X-Craft in 2026, five years after launch?
- With difficulty. Rokid's own European store still lists the product with all four variants — 5G ATEX, Wi-Fi ATEX, 5G STD and Wi-Fi STD — showing as out of stock or pre-order, and at least one US industrial reseller now marks it as no longer available. Rokid has not published an end-of-support date. Treat it as an active line with unreliable supply and confirm lead times before you plan a rollout around it.
