Meta Quest Pro — specification and verdict
Meta Quest Pro was the company's high-end headset, and its resolution — 1,800 x 1,920 per eye behind pancake optics — was deliberately close to Quest 2 rather than a leap over it. What set it apart was sensing: five inward-facing cameras for eye and face tracking, and colour passthrough sharp enough to build mixed-reality work on. For training the eye tracking is the point — it enables foveated rendering and, more usefully, a record of where a trainee actually looked during a hazard scan. Meta lists a Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 1, 12 GB of memory and 256 GB of storage; the ≈722 g shown here is a hands-on figure, since Meta has retired the spec page.
This is a device you can no longer buy new. Meta discontinued Quest Pro in 2024 and, like the rest of the Quest line, withdrew its commercial SKUs and Horizon Managed Services in February 2026 — so there is no vendor management tier and no official channel for a new fleet. Companies that already own them keep running the training apps they ran yesterday, and third-party fleet management still covers the hardware. The magnetic facial interface wipes down for shared use. Treat any purchase as used stock without a warranty path.
Do not build a new rollout on Quest Pro — you cannot source it with support. If you already own a batch, keep it for the one thing nothing cheaper in this comparison offers: eye-tracked training that shows you where attention went. When those units age out, the closest replacement for the eye tracking is VIVE Focus Vision rather than any current Quest.

Who this device is for
Quest Pro is now a niche device with one clear reason to exist in a training fleet: it is the only Meta headset with eye and face tracking, so it is what you use when gaze analytics or an avatar's expression are the point of the exercise. Meta withdrew it in 2025, so this is a decision about hardware you already own or buy used — not a fleet you can order.
How it differs from its predecessor
Against Quest 3 it wins on eye and face tracking, RAM (12 GB) and the open peripheral design, and loses on almost everything else: 1800x1920 per eye against 2064x2208, 722 g against 515 g, and a launch price of 1,499 dollars against 499. Quest 3 replaced it in practice long before Meta discontinued it.
What is missing, and what the manufacturer does not publish
The weight in our table is a third-party measurement, because Meta's own page no longer carries the specification. There is no vendor device management, storage is fixed at 256 GB, and the refresh rate stops at 90 Hz. The real gap is commercial: discontinued in 2025, so support, accessories and replacement units all now come from the second-hand market.

- Is Meta Quest Pro still worth using for corporate training?
- Only where eye or face tracking is the reason for the exercise — attention analytics, avatar expression, gaze-driven interaction. For ordinary safety scenarios a Quest 3 is sharper, lighter and a third of the price, and Meta discontinued the Pro in 2025.
- What does Quest Pro's eye tracking actually give a training programme?
- Two things: a record of where the trainee looked, which is the closest VR gets to measuring attention on a hazard, and foveated rendering, which frees up performance for a denser scene. Both need the training application to support them — the hardware alone changes nothing.
- Why was the Quest Pro discontinued?
- It was priced at 1,499 dollars for capabilities that almost no software used, and a year later Quest 3 delivered better optics for a third of the money. Meta stopped selling it in 2025; the face and eye tracking have not yet returned to a consumer Meta headset.
