PICO Neo3 Link — specification and verdict
PICO Neo3 Link is the consumer half of the Neo3 line, and it earns its own entry because PICO publishes different numbers for it than for the Pro. Same 1832 x 1920 per eye behind Fresnel lenses and the same 98-degree field of view, but the refresh ceiling is 120 Hz rather than 90, and PICO quotes a real runtime — about two and a half to three hours from the 5300 mAh rear battery, which few vendors state at all. It weighs 385 g without the straps, runs a Snapdragon XR2 with 6 GB of memory and 256 GB of storage, and the interpupillary distance clicks between three fixed stops.
The word Link in the name is a DisplayPort cable: this was PICO's answer to people who wanted one headset for standalone use and for SteamVR on a PC, and that wired link is why it still turns up in simulator setups. Our courses run on it — PICO OS is Android-based standalone XR, and PICO's own OpenXR documentation lists Neo3 among the hand-tracking devices. What is missing is everything on the business side: no device manager, no kiosk mode, no enterprise licensing, and no purchase route left in Europe.
Keep an existing Neo3 Link fleet for guided scenarios and simple procedures — it works, our courses install, and the hard swivelling side straps make it unusually easy to put on and take off over glasses. Do not build a new programme on it: the silicon is two generations behind and there is no fleet management to grow into. If the 120 Hz mode is what draws you, that is a simulator requirement rather than a training one.

Average pixel density is our own arithmetic: panel pixels divided by the field of view on the same axis. It is the standard approximation, and it runs lower than a published peak figure because a lens packs pixels denser at the centre.
Who this device is for
Neo3 Link was PICO's consumer headset for Europe, and its distinguishing feature is still relevant: a DisplayPort mode for wired PC VR alongside standalone use, at 385 g. Discontinued, but our courses still run on it, so a company that bought a set can keep using them for procedural training while planning the replacement.
How it differs from its predecessor
Against the Neo3 Pro it is the consumer version of the same hardware — no enterprise licensing, but a 120 Hz mode and the DisplayPort connection the Pro did not have. Against Quest 2 of the same year it matched the panel and beat it on the wired PC option, and lost decisively on the size of the content library.
What is missing, and what the manufacturer does not publish
Discontinued and unsupported by any current device management. No eye tracking, monochrome passthrough, and a 98-degree field of view that shows its age. The DisplayPort mode also needs a separate power adapter — the cable does not charge the headset, which is the detail that catches most first-time users.

- Does the PICO Neo3 Link charge over its DisplayPort cable?
- No — this is the most common surprise with this headset. The DisplayPort cable carries video only, so a long PC VR session needs the separate power adapter as well. Plan for both cables if the device is going into a fixed simulator seat.
- Is the PICO Neo3 Link the same as the Neo3 Pro?
- Same generation and the same panel, different market: the Link was the consumer model for Europe with a 120 Hz mode and DisplayPort, while the Pro was sold to businesses with enterprise licensing. Neither has device management, and both are discontinued.
