OPPO Air Glass — specification and verdict
Air Glass puts a single 640x480 micro-LED image through a diffraction waveguide in front of one eye, across 28 degrees diagonally, at up to 1400 nits. That is a notification panel, not a screen: a line of text, a turn arrow, a teleprompter script. It has no camera, no positional tracking and no second eye, so nothing can be anchored in the room and nothing can be measured or recorded. Our VR training courses do not run on it, and no adaptation would help, because the device has no public SDK and no way to sideload an application.
There is nothing to roll out. Air Glass launched in Q1 2022 in the Chinese Mainland market only, was never distributed in Poland or Germany, and its functions arrive through the OPPO Smart Glass app on an OPPO phone with ColorOS 11 or above, or an OPPO Watch 2. That pairing requirement means a fleet would also be a fleet of OPPO phones on Chinese-market software. There is no vendor MDM, no kiosk mode and no enterprise licensing programme, and the translation feature shipped as Mandarin-English only.
Do not try to buy it. OPPO closed the line without ever taking the original Air Glass outside China, and the follow-ups shown at Inno Day 2022 and MWC 2024 stayed prototypes. If you want a text-only heads-up display for a hands-busy worker, buy something with a documented Android SDK; if you want VR training, this category is the wrong one entirely.

Who this device is for
Only of interest to people cataloguing the history of assisted-reality eyewear, or to a Chinese-market OPPO user who already owns one. For anyone specifying hardware for a safety-training or field-service deployment in Europe, this is a dead end: no distribution, no SDK, no fleet tooling.
What is missing, and what the manufacturer does not publish
OPPO's own press page never states a price, a battery capacity or a runtime, so we carry none of the three. It also describes the glass as needing an OPPO phone or Watch 2, which is why we record it as phone-tethered even though VRcompare lists it as standalone on the strength of its own Snapdragon Wear 4100. The 640x480 resolution comes from VRcompare, not from OPPO. We could not confirm a formal discontinuation announcement or an end-of-support date.
OPPO Air Glass — frequently asked questions
- Can OPPO Air Glass work without an OPPO phone?
- No. OPPO's own launch page requires either an OPPO Watch 2 or an OPPO smartphone running ColorOS 11 or above, with the Smart Glass app supplying the content. The glass has its own Snapdragon Wear 4100 chip, but there is no standalone mode you can put a training application into.
- Was OPPO Air Glass ever sold in Europe?
- No. OPPO stated the launch as Q1 2022 in the Chinese Mainland market, and it never reached Polish or German retail. The later Air Glass 2 and Air Glass 3 were shown as prototypes and were never sold either, so there is no European purchase route for any device in this line.
- Is the Air Glass teleprompter enough to run a safety briefing?
- Only for reading your own script. The 28-degree diagonal monocular image at 640x480 in front of one eye is legible for a scrolling line of text at up to 1400 nits, but it cannot show a scene, a diagram or a 3D model, and the trainee sees nothing. Use it as an instructor's prompter at most, not as a training device.
