Iristick.H1 — specification and verdict

The H1 is the PPE-mounted member of the Iristick family: 180 grams, fixed to a helmet or headband rather than worn as glasses, with a monocular display that flips 180 degrees for either eye. It carries a dual central camera with adjustable optical zoom and a laser aiming dot, a barcode scanner and a privacy light, and it draws power and compute from a cabled smartphone rather than a battery of its own. Iristick has confirmed it is not restocking, and supports the units already in service.

It deploys the way the rest of the Iristick line does: a cable to a phone the technician already carries, with the remote-expert or workflow application running there. What set the H1 apart was the mounting — it goes onto the safety equipment somebody is already wearing, rather than replacing their glasses, which is what made it the platform behind the hazardous-area Visor-Ex. Our courses do not run on it.

Read this row if you have H1 units in service or are documenting what replaced them. It is the only Iristick built for a helmet, and the last of them have shipped — the G3 is the current glasses-style model and the H-series has no successor listed. As a purchase it is closed; as a reference point for what PPE-mounted assisted reality looked like, it is the right entry.

Who this device is for

Field service, utilities and process industry teams whose people already wear a helmet and cannot put a second pair of glasses on top of it. For anyone specifying today it is a historical entry rather than an option.

How it differs from its predecessor

Against the Iristick G3 it trades the glasses form factor for helmet mounting and adds the optical zoom camera, at 180 grams against 95. Against RealWear's Navigator line it is lighter and phone-powered rather than standalone, which means no battery to manage and no device of its own to enrol.

What is missing, and what the manufacturer does not publish

Iristick publishes weight, mounting, cameras and certifications but no dimensions, no display resolution for the H1 specifically and no price on its own pages — the pricing page quotes euro figures for the G-series only. Because the H1 draws power from the connected phone, none of the battery rows exists for it.

Can the Iristick H1 still be bought?
No. Iristick states that the last units have shipped and it is not restocking, while keeping the H1 supported for everyone already using one. The G3 is the current model, and it is a glasses form factor rather than a helmet mount.
Is it certified for hazardous areas?
No. The H1 carries impact and ingress ratings — IP67, ANSI Z87 and EN 16321 — but no ATEX or IECEx approval. The hazardous-area device built on this platform was the ecom Visor-Ex, a separate product.
