Acer GI0 AI Glasses — specification and verdict
The GI0 is the other half of Acer’s move into eyewear and the opposite kind of product to the GR0: no display at all, no cable, and 46 grams of frame. What is in there is a 12-megapixel camera shooting 4032x3024 stills and 1080p video at 30 fps, 32 GB of storage, stereo audio with three microphones, Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5.0, and a 217 mAh battery — Acer publishes the capacity and no runtime, so there is no battery figure in the table. Google Gemini is the interface, and everything is paired to a phone through Acer’s AspireSync companion app on Android 12 or newer and iOS 15 or newer. Pricing is 299.99 dollars in North America, 399 euros in EMEA from Q4 2026 and 599 Australian dollars in Australia from Q3 2026, which makes it the cheapest device in this comparison.
Camera glasses with an assistant, so the same limits as every device in this class: nothing to show a trainee, nothing to install, and the assistant answers about what the camera sees rather than about your procedures. The realistic workplace use is capture — hands-free photos and video of an installation, a defect or a site, which is genuinely useful for accident documentation and for building training material. It is not a training device, and the camera raises the same consent questions as any other pair of recording glasses in a workplace.
What is known: the camera, storage, audio, connectivity, weight, the assistant and the prices in three regions, with Q4 2026 for Europe. What is not: the battery runtime, and whether the North American launch has happened — Acer gives no quarter for that region. - Mainly in price and brand: both are camera-and-assistant glasses without a display, tethered to a phone. Acer indicates about 300 dollars against Meta's 379, and the assistant is Acer's own application rather than Meta AI — which is also the part with the least public detail so far.
- Are AI glasses without a display useful at work?
- For hands-free capture and calls, sometimes — a technician can show a remote colleague what they see. But a camera on every face is a policy question before it is a tool, and consumer glasses with no device management give a company no way to answer it.
