For safety teams, HR and training providers
VR LMS: your people practise in a headset, you see who is ready
You answer for whether people know what to do when something goes wrong. A VR LMS is the part of VR training you work with: it assigns the right course to the headset, records what each person did and gives you proof that holds up.

What it is
What is a VR LMS?
A VR LMS (learning management system for virtual reality) is the system behind training that happens in a headset. Like any LMS, it keeps the list of trainees, assigns courses and stores completions. The difference is where the training runs: not in a browser tab, but in a headset on the shop floor, often shared by a whole shift and often without Wi-Fi.
That changes what the system has to do. It has to get the course to the headset, let a person sign in without an email address, keep results while the headset is offline and send them later, and record what the person actually did in the scenario, lesson by lesson. In Skillsive that record ends in a certificate anyone can check with a QR code.
Side by side
Regular LMS and VR LMS: what changes
A regular LMS was built for courses on a screen. These are the places where training in a headset needs something else.
Where training runs
- Typical LMS
- In a browser on a computer or phone
- VR LMS (Skillsive)
- In the EHS Academy app on a Meta Quest headset, on site
Internet connection
- Typical LMS
- Usually needed for the whole course
- VR LMS (Skillsive)
- Headsets train offline for up to 30 days (90 on Professional) and sync results when they reconnect
Signing in
- Typical LMS
- Usually a personal account with email and password
- VR LMS (Skillsive)
- The trainee picks their name on the headset or enters their sign-in code; no email needed
What gets recorded
- Typical LMS
- Opened, finished, quiz score
- VR LMS (Skillsive)
- Score, duration, device and a lesson-by-lesson history for every person
Devices
- Typical LMS
- Usually outside the system
- VR LMS (Skillsive)
- A register of headsets: pairing with a code, status and settings from the browser
Licensing and proof
- Typical LMS
- Usually per user; a certificate as a PDF
- VR LMS (Skillsive)
- Per headset, any number of trainees; certificates with a digital signature and a QR code

How it works
From the first headset to the first certificate
Pair the headsets
Enter the code shown in the headset and the device joins your organization.
Add people
Import a department from a CSV file or add trainees one by one. A nickname is enough.
Assign training
Pick courses from the EHS Academy library or build your own course from lessons.
See who is ready
Every session becomes a record with score and time, and the certificate can be issued once the required lessons are done.
Frequently asked questions
- What is the difference between a VR LMS and a regular LMS?
- Both keep trainees, courses and completions. A VR LMS also handles what a headset needs: assigning training to the device, signing in without an email address, working offline and recording results from inside the scenario.
- Do trainees need their own accounts or email addresses?
- No. A trainee is a record in your organization, and a nickname is enough to create one. On the headset they pick their name from the list or type their sign-in code.
- Can we keep our current LMS?
- Yes. Skillsive covers the headset part of training, and the completions table exports to CSV or XLSX, so you can add the results to your HR system or existing training records.
- Which headsets does it work with?
- Meta Quest standalone headsets running the EHS Academy app. You pair each headset with your organization by entering a code.
- What happens when there is no internet on site?
- The headsets keep training and store results for up to 30 days, or 90 on the Professional plan, and send them to the panel once they reconnect.
- How does someone check a certificate?
- They scan the QR code on the certificate or upload the PDF on the public verification page. No account is needed.
