PICO Neo3 Pro — specification and verdict
PICO Neo3 Pro was the business headset that put ByteDance on the map in European training rooms before the PICO 4 existed. A single 5.5-inch panel gives 1832 x 1920 pixels per eye at 72 or 90 Hz behind Fresnel lenses with a 98-degree field of view, driven by a Snapdragon XR2 with 6 GB of memory and 256 GB of storage on Android 10. PICO publishes the number most vendors hide: 395 g for the headset without straps, 673 g complete, with the 5300 mAh battery at the back as a counterweight. The IPD moves between three fixed positions — 58, 63.5 and 69 mm — the face foam is explicitly replaceable, and a DisplayPort cable turns it into a 4K SteamVR headset.
For anyone who still owns these, the practical picture is good and the paperwork is not. Our courses run on it: PICO OS is Android-based standalone XR, and PICO's own OpenXR documentation lists Neo3 among the hand-tracking devices, so even controller-free scenarios are technically available. What a new customer cannot get is any of the management layer — PICO's specification page documents no business device manager for this line, and the Business Suite ships with the 4 Ultra Enterprise today. There is also no purchase route, and no withdrawal notice from PICO to tell you when that happened, so this page records it as withdrawn without inventing a date.
Keep an existing Neo3 Pro fleet in service for guided scenarios where the trainee follows a procedure rather than reads a serial number: the resolution is Quest 2 class and the silicon is a generation behind everything current. Two things still make it worth keeping rather than scrapping: the replaceable foam, which is what shared use actually depends on, and the wired PC link. When you extend, extend on PICO 4 Ultra Enterprise or Quest 3.

Average pixel density is our own arithmetic: panel pixels divided by the field of view on the same axis. It is the standard approximation, and it runs lower than a published peak figure because a lens packs pixels denser at the centre.
Who this device is for
Neo3 Pro is a business headset from 2021 that a number of European companies bought and are still using: 395 g, which is remarkably light, and our courses run on it. PICO has discontinued it, so this page is for planning a replacement rather than a purchase — and for knowing what still works meanwhile.
How it differs from its predecessor
Against the Neo3 Pro Eye it is the same headset without eye tracking and with 6 GB of memory instead of 8 GB. Against PICO 4 Enterprise, which replaced it, the difference is the optics: Fresnel at 1832x1920 against pancake at 2160x2160, which is visible on any text a trainee has to read.
What is missing, and what the manufacturer does not publish
No device management, no enterprise licensing, no eye tracking, and the device is discontinued — spares and batteries come from what is left in the channel. The Fresnel optics and the 98-degree field of view show their age next to any current headset, and the passthrough is monochrome.

- Is the PICO Neo3 Pro still usable for company training?
- Yes technically — it runs PICO OS on Android and our courses install on it — but it is discontinued, has no fleet management and its optics are two generations old. Use it out while it lasts; do not build a new programme on it.
- Why is the PICO Neo3 Pro so much lighter than newer headsets?
- At 395 g it predates the heavy battery-and-camera arrays of current mixed-reality devices: no colour passthrough cameras, a smaller battery and a simpler optical stack. Lightness here is the result of doing less, not of better engineering.
