Google Glass Enterprise Edition 2 — specification and verdict
Glass Enterprise Edition 2 puts a single 640x360 prism display above the right eye, not a stereo screen in front of both. Nothing immersive can be shown on it: a trainee reads a short checklist line, a work order number or a camera feed from a remote expert, and keeps looking at the machine. Tracking is non-positional, so the image does not stay anchored to anything in the room, and there are no controllers — input is the temple touchpad and voice. With Snapdragon XR1, 3 GB of RAM and Android 8.1 it runs ordinary Android APKs, which is why the assisted-reality vendors built on it, but it will not run a VR course.
There is no deployment path left. Google stopped selling the device on 15 March 2023 and ended support on 15 September 2023, with the last system images promised over OTA only until 1 April 2024, so a fleet bought now is Android 8.1 with no further patches. Replacement units were handled by distributors and that channel closed with support. Anything you find in 2026 is second-hand hardware at unknown battery health against the original 800 mAh cell, and the pre-installed Meet on Glass app was explicitly allowed to stop working after the support date.
Do not buy it for a training programme. Glass EE2 is an out-of-support 2019 assisted-reality device with a 640x360 monocular display, and our VR courses do not run on it under any configuration. If the use case is genuinely remote assistance rather than training, look at a currently supported industrial headset with a vendor still shipping firmware.

Who this device is for
It is for the small number of organisations already running a Glass-based remote-assist or pick-by-vision workflow who need spare units and accept an Android 8.1 device with no patches. Nobody starting a new deployment in 2026 should be on this list, and nobody buying for VR-based safety training should look at it at all.
What is missing, and what the manufacturer does not publish
Google never published a field of view, a brightness figure or a charge time for Glass EE2, and its spec page is gone — google.com/glass/start now redirects straight to the discontinuation FAQ, which is the clearest statement of status you will get. The 46 g / 51 g weights, the 640x360 resolution and the 8-hour battery claim come from VRcompare, not from Google. We could not verify whether any MDM vendor still enrols the device today.

- No. Google ended sales on 15 March 2023 and ended support on 15 September 2023.
