Epson Moverio BT-350 — specification and verdict
Epson says outright that the BT-350 carries all the internal specifications and key features of the BT-300, so the interesting part is everything outside the electronics. The temples extend and the nose pads adjust, because this was built for a museum or a factory where the same pair goes on twenty different heads in a morning. It is rated IPX-2 against light rain where the BT-300 has no rating at all, its storage is embedded rather than a card a visitor could remove, and Epson shipped Moverio Admin management software with an optional dock charging five units at once. Same 69-gram optics module, but 119 grams by the time the shared-use body is around it.
This is the half of the pair actually built for deployment. Epson Moverio Admin handles a fleet, the optional dock charges five devices, the embedded storage cannot be pulled out by a visitor, and the IPX-2 rating means light rain is not an incident. It cost 1,399 dollars against the BT-300's 779, and Epson also sold a separate BT-350 ANSI Z87.1 Edition at 1,199 with indoor and outdoor safety shields meeting that standard - the same hardware in certified eyewear, which is what a site requiring safety glasses needs. All three are marked discontinued on Epson's own store today.
Still not a training device in our sense - 23 degrees at 30 Hz shows text and telemetry, not a scene, and our courses are VR builds. But of everything in the Moverio line this is the one that understood shared use, and the ANSI edition understood safety compliance, which is more than most AR glasses manage even now. It is discontinued; for current hardware with the same intent look at the BT-45CS in this catalogue.

Who this device is for
Museums, visitor centres and industrial sites that hand the same glasses to a stream of people and need to manage them centrally. The ANSI Z87.1 edition extended that to sites where safety eyewear is mandatory. Today, an operator maintaining an existing installation.
What is missing, and what the manufacturer does not publish
Epson publishes no brightness figure for this generation, and no end-of-support date could be obtained because its technical site blocks automated access. Only the water rating is documented - IPX-2 for both the headset and the controller in its casing. Note that a separate BT-350 ANSI Z87.1 Edition exists at its own model code and price, and that Epson also sold a BT-300 Drone FPV Edition; neither has its own record here, because both are the same electronics in different eyewear rather than different hardware.

- Is the BT-350 ANSI edition a different device?
- No, it is the same BT-350 in certified safety eyewear. Epson describes it as designed to be worn in environments that require safety glasses, with indoor and outdoor safety shields that meet ANSI Z87.1 requirements, and sold it at 1,199 dollars under its own model code. Because the electronics are identical we do not give it a separate record - but if your site mandates safety eyewear, that edition is the one to source, and the standard BT-350 will not satisfy the requirement.
- Why does the BT-350 weigh so much more than the BT-300?
- Because the difference between them is entirely body. The optics and electronics are the same, and Epson says so; the BT-350 adds extendable temples, adjustable nose pads and a casing rated IPX-2, all of which exist so the same pair can be fitted to one head after another and survive being handled all day. That takes it from 69 grams to 119. For a device worn for twenty minutes at a time by a visitor, that trade is the right way round.
